Balloon Lamp
The BalloonLamp is based on the Japanese Chochin; a portable lamp which was illuminated by candlelight, from the EDO period. Designer/musician Kouichi Okamoto has updated this lamp by replacing the candle with a LED and the paper lantern with a standard rubber balloon. Since the LED light source does not generate any heat the balloon is safe from being damaged or melted.
The balloon also makes a great diffuser for the bright LED. The BalloonLamp is very portable and can be used indoors or outdoors for decorating, camping or backyard parties. It can be deflated after use and easily stored.

SolarCap Light Emitting tile
The SolarCap system consists of modular, self-contained lighting devices that can be used for decorative or traffic flow purposes - powered only by solar energy. These unique devices incorporate the newest “EnergyCache” technology for energy storage, instead of the high maintenance rechargeable batteries that are currently used in solar deviced. Unlike batteries which must be changed every two-three years and can not tolerate environmental extremes, EnergyCaches enable SolarCap lighting to be used i any environmental without maintenance for more than 10 years with a wide operating temperature range of -25 - 60 degree C.
During daylight hours, the tiles use solar cells to capture energy from the sun that is than converted to electricity and storef using SolarCap’s EnergyCaches to automatically turn on soft light emiting diode (LED) lighting in the evening. Full charge takes about one hour under direct sunlight and up to eight hours in shady or indirect lighting conditions. The light will stay on for up to 12 hours with fully charged EnergyCaches.
Available in six colours, user can arrange SolarCap light emitting tiles in any imaginable shape or space to achieve a variety of drsired effects for residential or commercial applications in high-traffic or isolated areas. They can be easily installed just like a standard brick or tile on horizontal or vertical surfaces.

John Madejski Garden
Great pieces from the transvision night was a responsive LED sculpture by United Visual Artists. Installed in the John Madejski Garden, from afar looked like people worshiping the arrival of an alien spaceship, whilst up close you could feel the warmth of all those LEDs. As you approached it, custom camera tracking software detected your presence and reacted by changing the visuals and booming out some granular synthesis sounds through the large speakers. This project created a great atmosphere in the garden and had an aura about it. For a better explanation, watch the video.
The design allows the garden to be used both as a simple courtyard garden and as a stage set for display, theatre, parties and events. The terraces on the south side are designed to accommodate cafés and bars.
At night the garden will be dramatically transformed. The lighting has been specially created for the garden by Patrick Woodroffe, lighting designer for the Rolling Stones.

Greenlight Lighting - Eco Design
San Francisco: Greenlight Concepts has raised the bar on what it means to be brilliant: All over the US, cities are replacing traffic lights with super-efficient LED models. But what becomes of the old lights?
Greenlight diverts these beautiful red, green, and amber lenses from being tossed, and incorporates them into snazzy, modern lamps. They offer solutions for desk, pendant, and floor lighting, and they range from focused task lighting to smooth ambient. The bucket lamp series even comes with interchangeable lenses so you can set the color to match the mood.
