			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a title="rohm" href="http://www.rohm.com/">ROHM</a> has recently completed development of an ultra-compact LED featuring both the smallest volume and area in the world. <a title="picoled" href="http://www.rohm.com/news/070126.html">The SML-P12 series (PicoLED<sup>TM</sup>)</a> is ideally suited for devices requiring thin, compact components, such as mobile phone keypads, small dot-matrix units, and compact seven-segment display devices. PicoLED has been announced two days ago and it will go into mass production in April.<br />
The company aim to create 10 million of the tiny 1.0 x 0.8mm diodes every single month. Currently, the smallest LED is one that measures 1.6 x 0.8mm. Both LEDs are only 0.2mm thick. If you happen to be an electronics giant then you can get a sample this month only for 100 yen each.</p>
